Habberstad House Bed and Breakfast is located in Lanesboro, a popular destination town in Southeast Minnesota’s Root River Valley. The inn was built in 1897. Just 2 hours south of Minneapolis, the town is known for its art galleries, live theater, and access to wonderful outdoor activities. Outside Magazine identifies it as one of the “Best American Towns”, attracting cyclists, paddlers, cross-country skiers and wildlife lovers. Artplace America rates it one of the top small towns for the arts in the U.S., and Smithsonian Magazine named it one of “America’s 20 Best Small Towns”! Much of downtown Lanesboro is on the National Register of Historic Places. The town has its own history museum, library, school district, post office, 2 theaters, a major arts center, a farmers’ market, river outfitters, fishing guides, independent retail shops, plenty of restaurants and 2 ice cream parlors. That’s saying a lot for a town with a population of 750 people!
