Georgian Manor Inn - B&B
Norwalk, OH
Offered for sale at $695,000
After substantial renovation and upgrading by Judy and Gene Denney, the Georgian Manor INN -B&B opened in late 1996 and stopped taking guests due to Corna Virus concerns and Judy’s health issues. While in operation as an up-scale Inn, the Georgian Manor received AAA’s “Four Diamond Award” 20 straight years placing in an upscale group of Ohio lodgings that including the Ritz Carlton - Cleveland. Only about 3% of lodgings inspected annually receive this high level of recognition based on a property having a refined, stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail. With Judy’s (wife of 57 years) unfortunate passing earlier this year and Gene’s reaching 57 years of age, the Inn has been placed on the For Sale Market as a Turnkey property with most of the furnishings staying with the Inn.
The Georgian Manor is a very elegant, yet warm, gracious, stately 1906 mansion, exquisitely decorated and situated on 1.3 well-manicured acres on Norwalk, Ohio's tree lined, architecturally rich Historic West Main Street. An easy walk to historic uptown, specialty shops and The Firelands Museum. The Inn is near wineries, golfing, Summit Raceway Park and Cedar Point and many other attractions including Lake Erie, Ferries to the Islands, Bike / Walking trails, Thomas Edison's birthplace, President Hayes Museum & Grounds. Scrumptious full breakfasts have been served in the past in gorgeous dining room at an eight-person cherry table on fine guest China.
There are four levels to the stately Georgian-style mansion with just over 9000 square feet that provides private, well situated private owner living quarters of approximately 1500 sq. ft. on the first level. On the second level and a special feature of the Inn, there are “Five well-appointed public rooms” for guest use including a library with nearly 500 books, living room with fireplace, large foyer, mahogany paneled dining room and enclosed sun porch overlooking the gardens. The home has lots of refinished oak wood floors, pocket doors, cove and dental moldings, and solid cherry doors. On the third level there are Four exquisitely decorated guest rooms with private baths, walk in closets, robes and irons and ironing boards. Frequently booked was the Lady Anne room with a four-poster canopy bed and private 200 sq foot balcony overlooking the small pond, gardens, and pergola. The 4th level has a large ballroom with 10 ft ceilings, plastered walls and tongue and grooved flooring that unfortunately has fallen to the need for electrical expansion and added air conditioning but a great space for storing holiday items and extra furnishings. Attached to the home is a two and half car garage with above patio, an adjacent sandstone patio, small pond with water falls and stream. Spring and summer bring lots of color through the several gardens backed by a large pergola where small weddings have been held. At the rear of the property, is an old Carriage building that is used to hold lawn equipment, ladders, and umbrellas, plus.
The price of this upscale, exquisitely decorated, and well-furnished property is $695,000 and is based on my taking the furniture in the innkeeper’s living quarter’s but leaving the double washers and driers and a refrigerator that are used extensively with the Inn. In the many storage areas in the Inn, I have identified boxes of glasses, brass candle holders, towels and bedding that will remain with the Inn. Items in the office and some items in the kitchen will also go with the current owner. I will provide information, forms and some assistance that the new owners may need in their operating the Inn. Also, there are various pictures that have some personal connections that I likely also take. Please call with any questions you may have.
