Over the past six years an historic estate, not far from St. Andrews, NB, has become a popular Inn, wedding venue, caterer and employer. Driven by a mission to offer service and hospitality, Dominion Hill Country Inn now has some of the highest ratings from visitors to the region. Its wedding venue is booked 1-2 years in advance, and the food service and catering enjoy flattering reviews and growing popularity.
The business continues to grow, adding new programs as it builds the year-round operation. The strategy has been to establish 4 strong profit centres -- that will create an EBITDA greater than 20% -- while maintaining an “excellent” rating with guests.
Event contracts confirm a very significant percentage of the annual revenues 12-18 months in advance. The business is targeting more than $1 million in annual revenue by the end of 2025.
• Accommodation. There are 20 units that include suites, cabins, cottages and glamping sites. During a weekend program the number of guests on the Inn’s campus is 50+
• Events. Weddings are the largest part of the business. Packaging the venue with food and bar services, accommodation, and ancillary services, weddings fill every weekend from May – November. These events provide the largest profit margins (e.g. there are no external commissions to pay or discounts on rooms). Wedding bookings at this time fill every weekend for 6 months each year (and many Sundays and weekdays). The 2025 calendar is almost full, and reservations are now being made for 2026 and 2027.
The Inn also hosts business meetings, charity functions, concerts and dinner theatre.
• Food & Bar Services. The Inn’s kitchen team can deliver a wide range of meal options from fine dining to county BBQs and meeting luncheons. The dining room serves special events (e.g. weddings, Christmas parties, fundraising) and provides daily breakfast service for guests.
• Catering. The off-site food service has been growing with an emphasis on large events and partnerships with other venues. The team is comfortable providing food service for weddings, banquets and private parties with as many as 200 guests.
Dominion Hill has a partnership with a major St. Andrews attraction that is now being promoted as a new venue site. In 2025 we are also preparing to operate a daily cafeteria for the thousands of summer visitors to this facility.

Dominion Hill has a fascinating history that intrigues guests and enhances the marketing message. A farm was purchased in 1928 by Cyrus Curtis as a summer home for his daughter. Cyrus was a rags-to-riches story. He dropped out of school at age 9, started his first newspaper at 15, and by the 1900s was one of America’s leading publishers having created two of the most prestigious magazines of that century: “The Saturday Evening Post” and “Ladies’ Home Journal.” The community has many stories of his daughter, a leading philanthropist. The second owner was General James Van Fleet, one of the most decorated US generals with an illustrious resume of achievements.

The property consists of 56 acres on the edge of the Digdeguash tidal basin that empties into the Bay of Fundy. Six principal buildings have all been fully renovated and upgraded. Two buildings include licensed restaurants, the largest has a banquet capacity of 140. There are hot tubs, picnic areas, walking trails, lawns and gardens.

Recent surveys confirm that the Inn can raise its prices by 10% - 20% and remain very competitive. Many new markets have only been tested and hold future potential – especially for the offseason (e.g. training programs and virtual conferences, accommodation for contractors, adventure programming, wellness retreats).
